Can Coursebox enforce or display word counts in assignments?

Coursebox does not automatically show a live word counter to learners. However, you can set word count requirements in several ways:

• Add to instructions – When creating an assignment, include the word count range directly in the task prompt (e.g., “Write 150–200 words”). If using AI Assignment Writer, mention the required length in your prompt so it’s embedded.

• Use Pass Grade with manual checking – Enable Pass Grade and set a score. Assessors can manually check word length and use comments or AI feedback to remind learners if they are under or over the limit.

• Include in a rubric – Open the HTML editor, switch AI Writer to Assignment mode, and add a rubric section for “Length/Word Count” (e.g., “Meets 150–200 words = full marks”). This makes expectations clear and grading easier.

Tip: If you need stricter enforcement, combine instructions with a rubric and verify word length during marking.
