Configure 'Advanced Settings' in a course

Created by Carolina Martin, Modified on Wed, 27 Aug at 11:28 PM by Carolina Martin

The Advanced Settings panel allows you to configure detailed options for your course, including sharing, grading, learner display, and time-based settings. These controls give you greater flexibility over how your course is presented and managed.

In your publish settings in your course:

  • Go to your Publish Settings within your course.

  • Select Advanced Settings to open the configuration window.

Sharing

The buttons are always in the default ‘on’ position when you open this page.

You have the option of turning them off, if these platforms are not set up.

The activated social media icons will show up on the last activity page.

Location

Start typing an address in the address finder and a list of addresses will be created to pick from.

Grading Method

This is where you set the grading method and pass rate. Click the drop down box to reveal the pass grade options

Pass grade

The method is either the sum of all grades or just completing the work.

If you set the Pass grade at 80% for instance and the cumulative grades fall below 80% then that would be recorded as a fail.

A pass grade is recorded for any score over 80%.

Think about what an acceptable pass grade for your course is.  There are many factors to consider such as the industry, or industry standards or complexity of the course.

Depending on the course you may want a 100% pass rate so consider the importance of the course and what is deemed satisfactory knowledge to pass.

For instance, I am a diabetes educator and when I did the training for commencing people on insulin pumps, the pass grade was 100%. I had to thoroughly  know what I was doing because missing a step could be potentially life threatening.

Show total learners

If enabled, it will hide the number of users in the Arlo event. This is only an option if you have Arlo synchronization for this course.

Disable Content Protection (Disable Copy/Paste)

When ON, learners can freely download or copy course content without restrictions. When OFF, Coursebox’s content protection is active, preventing downloads and limiting copying to protect intellectual property. It is recommended to keep this OFF unless the course content is intended for free distribution.

Duration

Set a course duration to guide learners on how long the course is expected to take. This can help with pacing, time management, and meeting compliance or reporting requirements.

Enrolment Length

Enrolment length lets you control how long a learner has access to a course after enrolling. This setting is useful for managing course availability, encouraging timely completion, or aligning access with program deadlines.

Code (Arlo)

If Arlo API is enabled, this code must match the course template code.

Price & Tax

This is where you will set the GST or VAT tax amount is inserted.

Some education courses, course materials are GST exempt.
