NEW - Using 'Text Editor'

Created by Carolina Martin, Modified on Tue, 19 Aug at 10:59 PM by Travis Clapp

The Text Editor in Coursebox allows you to create and edit course content directly on the page, giving you full control over formatting, layout, and media integration. It supports a wide range of tools for designing engaging learning materials.

Key Features

  • Rich Text Formatting – Apply headings, bold, italics, underline, bullet points, and numbered lists.

  • Font & Size Control – Select from multiple fonts and sizes to suit your course style.

  • Insert Media & Links – Add images, videos, and hyperlinks directly into your content.

  • Embed Code – Use the HTML option to embed custom elements such as forms, widgets, or interactive tools.

  • AI Writer – Generate or refine text with AI assistance for faster content creation.

  • Add Sources – Quickly insert supporting materials or references directly into your content.

By default, every new activity is created as a Text Editor —a flexible content type that allows you to add rich text, images, and media.

The Text editor uses a standard WYSIWYG interface, similar to a WordPress blog post creator, making it easy to format content visually.

For more advanced customisation, you can click the HTML icon to view and edit the underlying HTML and CSS, giving you full control over the look and feel of your content.  If you want to create more notes, click on “Text Editor” to create a new note content. This will be displayed below the previous note.

Customise each course page using the text editor to add text, media, interactions, and assessments. Easily switch between edit and preview modes and choose a one- or two-column layout to suit your content.

NEW – Multiple HTML Blocks Per Page

You can now insert multiple HTML blocks on a single course page. This gives you greater flexibility for structuring your content, such as:

  • Creating separate embedded elements (e.g., videos, quizzes, and interactive charts) within one page.

  • Placing custom-designed sections between blocks of regular text.

  • Combining HTML widgets with standard Coursebox components to create dynamic learning experiences.

Accessing the Text Editor

  • Navigate to the desired course page.

  • Select Text Editor from the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

  • Use the top formatting toolbar to edit your content, insert media, or add HTML code.

Tip: Break up long pages into smaller HTML sections to improve load times and make editing more manageable.
